The organizers of the 2021 Astrobiology Graduate Conference (AbGradCon 2021) have published a paper discussing lessons learned from hosting the virtual conference. The study, “Lessons in digital meetings, international collaboration, and interdisciplinarity in astrobiology,” was published in the International Journal of Astrobiology, and highlights aspects of conference coordination to provide a framework for virtual meetings.

AbGradCon is a conference run by early career scientists for early career scientists. The conference provides a unique setting for astrobiologically-inclined graduate students and early career researchers to come together, share their research, collaborate, and network. AbGradCon 2021 took place virtually in September of 2021 and was organized by the Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI) at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

A press release concerning the outcomes of the recent publication is available from ELSI at: https://www.elsi.jp/en/news_events/highlights/2022/organisation_abgradcon_2021/
