Women on Mars
Women in astrobiology will be front and center at an upcoming “Women and Mars” conference, taking place November 9-10 at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Members of the astrobiology community who will be speaking at the conference include:
Linda Billings, Research Professor, School of Media and Public Affairs, George Washington University and principal investigator with the Astrobiology Program;
Penny Boston, Associate Director, National Cave and Karst Research Institute and Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology;
Pan Conrad, Mars Science Laboratory science team, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center;
Pascale Ehrenfreund, Space Policy Institute, George Washington University and principal investigator with the Astrobiology Program; and
Mary Voytek, Senior Scientist for Astrobiology, NASA Headquarters.
The conference, organized by Explore Mars, Inc., will highlight women’s contributions to Mars exploration and opportunities for women entering the field.
Fee-based registration is required to attend the event. However, NASA’s Planetary Sciences Division will provide free, live webcasting of the event. The webcast will also be archived for later viewing. Stay tuned for information on how to watch the webcast.
