The shrinking technology of cell phones, laptops and cameras are now leading to palm-sized satellites. Smaller satellites mean more affordable methods for collecting data from orbit. The new generation of pocket- and backpack-sized satellites are now changing the way astrobiology research is done. They also could change the way we explore the universe.
