Success in University Valley
NASA’s IceBite team was in Antarctica this month testing a new drill built by Honeybee Robotics for use on a possible future mission to Mars. In the latest blog from the field, Kris Zacny writes about the successful test of the Icebreaker drill in Antarctica’s remote University Valley. This demonstration showed that drilling on Mars is possible within the payload capacity of a small lander. IceBite is funded by NASA’s Astrobiology Science & Technology for Exploring Planets (ASTEP) program.
