The NASA Planetary Exploration Science Technology Office and the NASA Astrobiology Program will be co-sponsoring a virtual workshop on the inter-connections between life-detection science and technology this coming spring.

The overarching goal of the workshop is to bring scientists and engineers together to collectively develop new and creative approaches to in-situ searches for life elsewhere in our solar system, 20 years, or more in the future. Topics that will be explored during the workshop include:

  • What biosignatures should we search for?
  • Where in the solar system should we search?
  • How should we search?
  • What technologies are needed?

The workshop, hosted by Network for Life Detection (NfoLD) research coordination network, will be held in two parts:

    Part 1: March 21-25, 2022 (16:30-20:30 UTC)
    Part 2: April 11-15, 2022 (16:30-20:30 UTC)

If you are interested in attending please fill out the application prior to February 28, 2022. A nominal stipend will be offered to participants who fully attend and participate in both weeks of the workshop.
