The 2018 Astrobiology Graduate Conference (AbGradCon 2018) will take place in Atlanta, Georgia from June 4-8, 2018. AbGradCon provides a unique setting for astrobiologically-inclined graduate students and early career researchers to come together to share their research, collaborate, and network.
2018 marks the 14th year of this conference—each time in a different place and organized by a different group of students, but always with the original charter as a guide. This year’s AbGradCon is being hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology:
Since it is organized and attended by only graduate students, post docs, and select undergraduates, AbGradCon is an ideal venue for the next generation of career astrobiologists to form bonds, share ideas, and discuss the issues that will shape the future of the field. A Proposal Writing Retreat (PWR) will be held prior to the conference at the Forrest Hills Resort in the North Georgia Mountains from June 1 through June 4, 2018. Transportation to and from the site will be provided, and participants must arrive in Atlanta by 2 pm on Friday June 1st. The Astrobiology Proposal Writing Retreat (PWR) is an independent training workshop that brings together early-career astrobiologists from diverse academic backgrounds for an intensive three-day collaborative proposal writing experience. The central objective for workshop participants is to create an original proposal on a topic relevant to the current state of astrobiology research, which must be presented to a body of peers.
