Rising Stargirls is presenting a virtual astronomy opportunity for middle-school girls this summer. The free summer online workshop, The Universe: More Than Meets the Eye, was created by astronomer, astrobiologist and Rising Stargirls’ founder Aomawa Shields (UC Irvine). The workshop is tentatively planned to occur from June 14th to June 25th, 2021, meeting 3-5 times per week for two-hour sessions per meeting.

The workshop will be conducted entirely on Zoom. There is no program cost, but enrollment is limited and registration is first-come, first-served.

Interested girls (and their parents/guardians) can send an email to Jessica Howard (jnhoward@uci.edu), who will provide enrollment forms to secure their registration.

From Rising Stargirls:

“This program is for middle-school girls (grades 6-8) from groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences. This program explores constellations in the night sky, planets in and outside of our solar system, and the unseen mysteries of the universe. We will use writing, visual art, and theater games to process what we lean and discover. Bring your open minds, your own stories, and a sense of adventure.”

Enrollment is limited. Registration is first-come, first-served. If interested, send an email to Jessica Hoard (jnhoward@uci.edu), who will provide you with enrollment forms to secure your registration.
