Congratulations to Danilo Pérez Rivera of the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey, who was selected as both the winner and audience choice at FameLab USA Season 3 Regional Heat #6 held in San Juan, Puerto Rico! Danilo joins the winners from the other five regional heats of Season 3 as a finalist in the FameLab USA Season 3 National Final on May 13, 2016 in Washington, DC.

17 young scientists from all over the island of Puerto Rico met in San Juan at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras on March 30, 2016 for the preliminary competition round. The next day, the group journeyed to Arecibo Observatory for a private tour of the largest single-aperature telescope in the world…as well as a communications workshop focused on crafting and delivering strong themes.

Nine participants advanced to the final round of competition on April 1, 2016, and presentations were given to a packed auditorium! Danilo emerged as the winner, with two wild card selections – Kinaysha Collazo Moldonado and Rafael Rivero, both of the University of Puerto Rico.

FameLab USA was especially pleased to host a regional heat in Puerto Rico. We celebrate the excellent science and exuberant young scientists happening here!
