Pablo Llerandi-Roman

Dr. Pablo A. Llerandi Román just returned to Puerto Rico after a successful eight-year stay at Grand Valley State University, Michigan, where he taught geology and science education. He is now a professor of physical science and geology at the Department of Physical Sciences, University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. Pablo holds bachelors and masters degrees in geology from UPR-Mayagüez and a Ph.D. in earth science education from Purdue University. Pablo’s research focuses on the regional geology of Puerto Rico, the public’s understanding of geohazards, and developing effective strategies for teaching and learning geoscience in the field. Pablo is a native of Arecibo, where he enjoys living by the ocean in the spectacular northern karst belt of Puerto Rico. Pablo is active in several STEM education initiatives and has authored popular science articles in newspapers, non-profit online platforms such as Coastal Care and his blog Ciencias Terrestres, Geología y Puerto Rico. Pablo is a member of Ciencia Puerto Rico.
