EPO Activity: Classroom Visits

Project Progress

“Several MIT Team scientists visited school classrooms during the reporting period. Benjamin Kotrc visited two middle school classrooms at the Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School in Dorchester, MA in December 2013 and explained radiometric dating and geologic time through an activity involving two colors of M&Ms. Kevin Peterson visited first grade classrooms at Marion Cross Elementary in Norwich, VT (March 2014) and the Shaker Road School in Concord, NH (May 2014) with a presentation on dinosaurs.

Ralph Milliken spoke to third and fourth grade students at Palmer River Elementary School in Rehoboth, MA and sixth and seventh grade students at the Gordon School in E. Providence, RI about ““Roving on Mars”“. Dawn Sumner also spoke about Mars exploration to sixth graders at the City School, Los Angeles, CA in May 2014.”
