EPO Activity: Science Fellow Training

Project Progress

During the course of the grant, two traning events will occur. The Science Fellow program trains graduate students, postdocs, and faculty to effectively communicate their science research with the general public. The trainee-fellows participate in four 4-hour training classes, during which they learn about informal learning. Outside of the classes they work with the trainers to develop a hands-on activity regarding their research. The trainees receive feedback on the hands-on activity and then prototype it during a Science Fellow event, such as a Scientist Spotlight Day (first Saturday of every month at PacSci). The graduated fellows must facitilitate their activity three times a year at a PacSci fellow event in order to maintain their Fellow status.
