EPO Activity: Carl Sagan's Cosmos Viewings

Project Progress

An event of opportunity. VPL, in collaboration with WA NASA Space Grant are hosting viewings at the UW campus of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos series. The viewings were scheduled by a Seattle SpaceUp chapter, who got permission from the Sagan-Druyan Foundation to hold the free screenings. Screenings are occuring over the course of 7 months (9/2013 – 3/2014) and alternate between the UW Seattle Campus and Museum of Flight. For viewings at the UW campus, Space Grant/VPL provide a room to hold the viewings and a science expert to be present. The science expert gives a brief intro to the episode being shown and how it relates to their research. After the episode is shown, the expert comments on any current research that superseeds what was discussed in the episode and then takes questions from the audience. Space Grant and VPL use their social media connections to promote the viewings at the UW.
