EPO Activity: Life Underground Virtual World
Project Progress
The Life Underground Virtual World will introduce middle school students to the activities of a team of astrobiologists conducting research deep below the Earth’s surface in the Sanford Underground Research Facility in Lead, South Dakota. Our activities so far during the planning phase include the following: a review of Next Generation Science Standard; beginning to identify key concepts to embed in game/world; beginning to identify team of science teachers to offer input; identifying the Game Innovation Lab team; drafting questionnaire to determine need for project; recording video footage captured from underground mine in South Dakota as art resource; interviewing the NAI scientists; reviewing existing middle school science games; designing and launching project website.
