Astrobiology Minor
MSU has approved a new Astrobiology minor available for the first time this fall. This 30 credit minor is designed to cover the interdisciplinary fields that contributes to our general understanding of life, the origin of life, earth’s early history and the emergence of life, future of life on earth, and the possible existence of life on other planets. The required courses include biology, geology, philosophy, astronomy and chemistry as well as electives in history, religious studies, earth science and biochemistry. The principal goal of the minor is to develop student’s understanding of astrobiology in order to critically evaluate claims related to the field.
