EPO Activity: Ffame Outreach to Middle and Secondary Schools

Project Progress

The goal of the FfAME outreach program is to use the search for alien life as a context for teaching about “scientific methods”. This activity was reinforced over the past year by the emergence of the book Life, the Universe, and the Scientific Method (S. A. Benner, author, with illustrations by Jake Fuller, 320 pp), which develops astrobiological themes relating to the search for non-terran life. Outreach activities associated with this include presentations in June 2010 at in the “Theory of Knowledge” component of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program in Gainesville public high schools, and presentations in May 2010 at the Moorestown Friends’ School (New Jersey).
