Cheryl Zook is the Director of Explorer Programs at the National Geographic Society. She works with scientists, explorers, and adventurers around the world and connects their work with the storytelling power of National Geographic’s media.

She directs the annual National Geographic Explorers Symposium, which brings the Society’s explorers together for a week of presentations, collaboration, and networking.

Before joining the staff of National Geographic, Cheryl was an award-winning freelance video producer. She created short-form videos for non-profit groups and produced programming for PBS, National Geographic Channel, and Discovery, including the National Geographic Special’s “Lost Treasures of Afghanistan” and “The Lost Gospel of Judas.”
