Brooke Norsted
University of Wisconsin, Madison

Biography

Brooke Norsted is the Assistant Director at the University of Wisconsin Geology Museum where she spends her days talking to kids about dinosaurs and rocks (not a hard sell!) and coordinating science outreach events on and off campus. She earned a B.S. in Geology at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota and a M.S. in Geology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Brooke has a keen interest in taking science outreach to non-traditional venues as well as a commitment to introducing young women to science careers. She is the coordinator of outreach efforts tied to a NASA Astrobiology Institute grant, is on the planning committee of annual Darwin Day festivities on the UW-Madison campus, and is the co-chair of Expanding Your Horizons (a one-day conference for middle school girls interested in science). Away from work, Brooke enjoys playing with her two dogs, being entertained by her four chickens and is looking forward to learning how to skijor in the winter.
