EPO Activity: Community Lecture Series

Project Progress

The Astrobiology Biogeocatalysis Research Center sponsors a popular public lecture series for Bozeman and surrounding communities. Our lecture series combines local faculty knowledge with selected experts in the field. Two participants provided downtown lectures during the 2008-2009 year. Eric Schneider gave an intriguing presentation on ‘Life as Energy’, which is highlighted in his book, Into the Cool. Eric is a local scientist living in Livingston, Montana. The spring lecture was presented by Bob Smith focusing on the “living, breathing, shaking caldera“ of Yellowstone National Park. Bob is a geologist from Utah State University, and has been doing research in Yellowstone for the last 30 years. These lectures are well attended events with an engaged and inquisitive audience.
