Guide to Proposal Writing

As part of the Astrobiology Research Focus Group workshops, Dr. Michael New from the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters has made a tradition of presenting to the early career scientists about writing effective proposals to NASA. In this video, he addresses how to navigate and interpret solicitations, discusses how reviews are conducted, and gives invaluable tips on writing and submission. This is a must-see for anyone new to proposal writing in general, as well as seasoned proposal writers seeking funds from NASA.

Dr. New is the Astrobiology Discipline Scientist, Discovery Program Lead Scientist, and Program Scientist for the Planetary Data System. He manages NASA’s Exobiology and Evolutionary Biology, Emerging Worlds, and Habitable Worlds grant programs.

  • The NASA Postdoctoral Program has been extraordinarily successful in supporting new leaders in the astrobiology community. Upon completion of their postdoctoral fellowships, the Astrobiology Fellows are given the opportunity to present a seminar to share their work with one another and with the astrobiology community at large.
