The Oxford Network for Planets in the Universe solicits applications from highly talented and creative early career researchers interested in conducting research on any aspect of exoplanets under the Winton Exoplanet Fellowship Program.

Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant physical science discipline, though in the past some exceptions have been made for applicants who are very near to obtaining their degree. Applicants may apply to work with any faculty member in the Network, which is made up of a diverse group of faculty in the Atmospheric/Oceanic/Planetery Physics and Astrophysics sub departments of the Oxford Physics Department, and in the Earth Science Department. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Detection and characterization of exoplanets and their atmospheres
  • Exoplanet climate, clouds and atmospheric chemistry
  • Dynamics of protoplanetary disks and planet formation
  • Orbital dynamics
  • Planetary interior structure and surface geology
  • Interaction between planetary interiors and atmospheres
  • Magma ocean dynamics and chemistry
  • To apply send CV, choice of faculty mentors, list of up to 5 publications, 1 page research proposal, and contact information for two references to: Professor Suzanne Aigrain Suzanne.Aigrain@physics.ox.ac.uk, with cc to Raymond T. Pierrehumbert, Halley Professor of Physics (raymond.pierrehumbert@physics.ox.ac.uk). Please include the word WINTON in the subject heading.

Two nominees will be selected by 30 Sept. 2018, and will work with their designated mentors to prepare the application to the Winton Foundation, which is due 31 October, 2018.
