Astrobiology: Life in the Universe

NASA Astrobiology Institute (NAI)

  1. Adobe Connect

Adobe Connect allows distributed groups to collaborate real-time through a web browser using screen sharing, file sharing, Voice over IP (VoIP), chat, webcams and more. It is used for NAI’s Director’s Seminars, Workshops Without Walls, All-Access Events, Team and Focus Group meetings and more.

The NASA Astrobiology Institute provides Adobe Connect capabilities to the astrobiology community on an as available basis for use in astrobiology research, education and outreach.

These real-time meetings can either be scheduled in advance or called spontaneously, using a desktop or laptop computer with an internet connection. Participants can join these meetings using mobile devices, tablets, or desktop/laptop computers. No specialized hardware or software is required, as the NAI meeting site is reached using an internet browser. Meeting participants can share desktops, applications, data or documents, view still or movie images, collaboratively work on a whiteboard, and chat with individual members or the group as a whole. The “presenter” role can be rotated among participants by the host, and those with computer cameras can be seen by one another.
