Astrobiology Postdoctoral Position at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Syracuse University
POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN ASTROBIOLOGY
NEW YORK CENTER FOR ASTROBIOLOGY
RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE
SYRACUSE UNIVERSITYThe New York Center for Astrobiology is hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in collaboration with researchers from the University at Albany, Syracuse University, the University of Arizona and the University of North Dakota. Following our recent selection as a member of the NASA Astrobiology Institute, we anticipate openings for several postdoctoral researchers. Openings currently exist in groups working on the following topics: astronomical observations of ices and organic molecules in the interstellar medium; physical and chemical modeling of protoplanetary disks; impact chronology of the Earth-Moon system; geochemical and geochronological characterization of the early Earth environment; analysis of terrestrial analogs of Martian minerals; and laboratory investigations of biomolecules formed by chemical catalysis on planetary surfaces. Applications are encouraged from recent PhD graduates in all related fields. We anticipate that one appointee will be based at Syracuse University in the Department of Earth Sciences and the others at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the Departments of Physics, Applied Physics & Astronomy, Earth & Environmental Sciences, and Chemistry & Chemical Biology. Initial positions will be for one year with possible extension for up to four additional years.
To receive full consideration, applications, including curriculum vitae, publications list, one-page statement of research interests, and the names of at least two professional references should be sent as soon as possible, and no later than February 15, 2009, to
