  1. Question

What observational evidence supports the Big Bang theory of cosmology?

This is not really an astrobiology question, so you can find many more details at an astronomy website such as The Astronomy Cafe , which answers dozens of questions about the big bang. Very briefly, the expansion of the universe, and the primordial microwave radiation from the early universe, including the detailed structure of both the expansion and the microwave radiation, provide the main observational evidence. This evidence has gradually become stronger over the past half century and is now considered quite conclusive, with no serious competing theories.
