  1. Question

Is the comet 2004MN4 still being tracked? I believe this has broken records, the higest an object has been on the Torino scale.

It sure is being tracked; this is one of the best studied of the Near Earth Asteroids. The asteroid has been named Apophis (the Greek name for an Egyptian god of disasters called Apep, the "uncreator"). If you Google "Apophis" you will find lots of information, or check out the NASA impact hazard website at (http://impact.arc.nasa.gov). There is a very small probability that after its close flyby of Earth on April 13, 2029, Apophis could return and collide with our planet on April 13, 2036. As of March 1, 2008, the estimated probability of the 2036 impact is only 0.002 percent. You can check current orbital information anytime yourself at the NASA NEO Program website (http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov), under the heading "impact risk". David Morrison
