Question
Has it been confirmed that titan has lakes and seas?
Yes, the evidence gets stronger all the time as additional data are acquired by the Cassini mission. Of course, these are not lakes of water, but of hydrocarbons that can remain liquid at the very low temperatures on Titan. A Cassini news release from October 12 states that approximately 60 percent of Titan's north polar region (north of 60 deg latitude) has been mapped by Cassini's radar. About 14 percent of the mapped region is covered by what scientists believe are lakes filled with liquid methane and ethane (http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2007/12oct_titan.htm). David Morrison
