  1. Question

Precisely, what are PAH’s and why are they significant to astrobiology?

PAH's, or polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, were the first ringed carbon-based molecules found in space. PAH’s are proof that organic chemistry is happening around other stars, and where there is organic chemistry there exists the possibility of life. As Dr.Jochen Kissel of Max-Planck-Institute states: "When [these molecules] were in contact with liquid water on the young Earth, they could have triggered the type of chemical reactions which are a prerequisite for the origin of life."
