Question
Would the Apollo astronauts have been able to withstand night time on the Moon?
No, all of the elements of the Apollo landers and life-support systems were designed for temperatures not too different from those on Earth. The Apollo landings were all made when the Sun was about mid-way up the sky, yielding moderate temperatures. In contrast, the night temperatures on the Moon are almost as low as liquid air.
