Question
How much tidal stress would be necessary to keep geologically active a world as massive as Mars?
No one knows; indeed, Mars is probably still intermittently active (with volcanic eruptions) without any tidal stress. The Moon's tidal stress on Earth does not contribute to our geological activity; however, the volcanism on Jupiter's moon Io is almost entirely due to tidal stresses and internal heating from Jupiter, which is about the same distance from Io as the Moon is from the Earth.
