Question
If the earth were not spinning would we fall off?
No. The spin of the Earth only provides a very slight counteraction to gravity; you are actually lighter at the equator than at the poles because of the "centrifugal force" associated with the spin of the Earth providing a small counter force to gravity. If the Earth did not spin, gravity would still act to hold you to the surface. If the Earth spun much, much faster, then you could in principle be flung off the surface of the Earth by the centrifugal force overcoming gravity.
